Spiritual Warfare Manual for Beginners - The Key To Powerful Prayers

SPIRITUAL WARFARE MANUAL FOR BEGINNERS BOOK COVER

Introduction

A successful spiritual warfare prayer has absolutely nothing to do with what you say or how you say it. It has nothing to do with how hard you pray, if that’s what you have in mind when it comes to spiritual warfare. There’s no special phrase or combination of words that will bring down evil strongholds and dissolve bad influences in your life. Many times we find ourselves looking for that “miraculous phrase” or those special words to throw at the devil, but it doesn’t work that way. If we want a successful and powerful spiritual warfare prayer, we will have to dig deeper and seek spiritual answers.
To keep it simple, let me use the following analogy so you can understand me better: Think about a prayer as a river of water that flows freely downhill. Now, imagine that one day the water from that river stops flowing. What would you do? Are you going to go and get a hose and put it in the river in order to get the water flowing again, or are you going to walk uphill and find out what’s stopping the water from flowing freely?
That’s right! You’re going to go uphill and see if there’s a big stone clogging the river. That’s the logical thing to do, isn’t it? Speaking in spiritual terms, our effort to reach God is like that hose that we put into the river in order to get more water flowing. We don’t see the big stone clogging it, preventing our prayers from becoming effective, and this stone is usually something from our past holding us back.
I understand that many of you might say that our past was left behind when we accepted Jesus, and you’re absolutely right about that. The Bible clearly says in 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new, and all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
This is the promise and the freedom that the Lord gave us when we accepted him in our hearts. The problem comes when Satan steals the Truth from us and tricks us into thinking that we’re still bound to our past, and this is one of the reasons as to why our prayers are not as effective, but today you’re going to fight back, even if you’re new to Spiritual Warfare.
You’ll have to keep in mind that when you came to Christ and accepted him as your Lord and Savior, all curses were broken. You were set free from sin, and the devil hates that, so he will do anything to deceive you and bring back those evil influences from your past. The general misconception has always been that once we get saved everything is fine, but that’s not how things are. If that was the case, there would be no need for spiritual warfare.
Why fight the devil if we are already free from all evil influences? That’s a lie from Satan himself, and he uses that lie so you lower your guard. Jesus fought the devil; the apostles and the ancient church also fought him, so why shouldn’t we? Let’s not lose our focus and let’s not forget that we’re soldiers of the Most High God, so we must fight with these evil influences affecting us today.
In many cases, these demonic forces affect us through our own bloodline. Sometime in the past, your family was exposed to evil, and this might be affecting you today. This doesn’t mean that you’re paying for the sins of your family or for the sins of a past generation, but the evil influences affecting your family might also affect you in an indirect way. Remember that you are part of that group, so in a way, whatever happens to them, will also happen to you. No matter how you look at it, you have to fight for your family, so today we’re also going to learn how to counterattack Satan and break those evil influences affecting the ones you love.
Another important aspect to keep in mind is the territorial attacks of Satan. These attacks are directed to each nation and city of the world, but in a way, they’re also affecting you, preventing you from obtaining the blessings of the Lord, so we’ll also talk about that later on. These are the things nobody teaches you, so you don’t consider them a threat, and this affects your life in an indirect way, but you need to know that no matter what’s going on all around you, you’re going to declare victory and be set free in the name of Jesus.
Today you’re also going to learn to recognize the root of evil in your past and to break that lie that Satan is making you believe. He makes us believe that the blessings of God are not there for us, and this is why many of us give up before even getting started. When we come to Christ, we think that miracles will take place when we pray, but then we get discouraged when we don’t see those miracles happening in our lives.
After a few years, or even months, we give up because we feel as if God is not even listening to us anymore, but don’t give up on your prayer life just yet. Whether you’re just beginning your walk with God, or you’re already an experienced Christian, this spiritual warfare manual will show you many things that you’ve probably not yet understood about God’s power.
You need to remember that God is almighty and powerful, but if you still believe the lies of Satan, your prayers may not be as effective because, as we all know, God cannot have communion with darkness, and even though you’re saved, there might be some things that you’ll need to get rid of. Those things have become evil influences that you’ll need to break free from today, and you will only achieve that through prayer and understanding of the Truth.
I’ve prepared this spiritual warfare manual with the guidance of the Holy Spirit; based on Bible studies, and based on my own experience dealing with demonic influences in my life. Today, I’m surrounded by evil. I live in one of the most dangerous regions of the world, and I have to keep myself in constant prayer, so each day I learn new things, but my past was also a major learning experience. As many of you might already know, my entire family was oppressed by demonic forces for more than 15 years.
Since the age of 12, I saw my own mother being possessed by evil spirits, but the Lord delivered her, and now she serves Him every single day.  I don't claim to know it all and to have all the answers, but I will share some of my experience with you today. We might have different points of view in some aspects, but that’s okay. We’re here to learn from one another and be a blessing to the World. My desire is to help you overcome the evil affecting you today, and if I could be a blessing to your life, my heart will rejoice, knowing that you found freedom in the Word of our Lord.
I wrote this quick manual so you can learn the things that took me years to learn; the things that nobody told me about. The base that we’re going to use for this book is your own deliverance, so I will teach you how to cover yourself with the Blood of Jesus and how to rebuke Satan, this way you can set yourself free through the Word of Truth that comes out of the mouth of God. As you read through this book, you will also understand how easily we let demonic influences enter our lives and how these influences can stay with us for many years. In some cases, for a lifetime.
Even after we get saved, we’re still in great danger, and we continue to carry those evil influences until we stop believing Satan’s lies. Remember that, according to John 8:44, Satan is the father of all lies: “When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar, and the father thereof.” Those lies become evil influences, and they are rooted in our past, so we will take a look at those evil influences first, and then we’ll learn how to break them. Pay close attention and ask the Lord for understanding in the Spirit, and together we will conquer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

PART ONE:

UNDERSTANDING THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

How Does an Evil Influence Enter Your Life?

Many of us pray, but our prayers don’t even make it through the roof because we’re still chained to our earthly desires, and those earthly desires are holding us back from obtaining victory in spiritual warfare. This is a strong statement, but the truth is not always easy to swallow. Our earthly desires are so strong that they have become curses in our lives, and even after we get saved, they stay with us for many years. These evil influences are rooted in our hearts, and we can only get rid of them through spiritual deliverance.
To reconfirm what I’m saying, let me ask you a question: Do you think that the church of Thyatira, from Revelation 2:18, needed deliverance? Let’s take a look at what the Bible says about that church: “But I have this against thee, that thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, who calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.”
These were saved people, baptized and all, just like you and me, but they were clearly influenced by witchcraft, and as a result, the blessings of the Lord were obstructed. They needed deliverance from that evil influence, and that means that, even though you’re saved, you might also need deliverance today. Your situation may be completely different, but you might have a stronghold still affecting you and the ones you love, so that’s what we’re going to attack today.
Something might be holding you back. Maybe your fears are making your prayers vanish into thin air, and your fears come from your past experiences, therefore, it’s there where you’ll find the key to victorious warfare prayers. It’s not until you let go of that fear that you’ll see things happening in your life. Being a missionary and a Christian for more than 25 years, I’ve learned that many of us don’t get our prayers answered because we’re still chained to our fears and to those evil influences that torment us.
Think hard, and you’ll find the root of your problem, which has become a curse in your life. Is there unforgiveness in your heart? Is there someone that cannot forgive you for what you did? Were you a victim of emotional abuse in your childhood? Have you ever been rejected? Were you a victim of sexual harassment? Were you exposed to witchcraft or the occult? Etc.
These are things that you might be still carrying in your heart, and those things are now preventing you from reaching your spiritual goals. Many of these things are hidden from us because they happened so long ago that we don’t even know that they are there. It’s through prayer that we will achieve freedom so we can be more effective in spiritual warfare. It’s through prayer that we will be set free and become successful warriors. When we’re freed from an evil influence, our prayers will get answered, and we’ll see astonishing results in our spiritual battles.
You’ve probably been dealing with a heavy burden in your heart for many years, and sometimes you might feel that something is wrong in your life. This is holding you back from reaching the blessings that the Lord has prepared for you. The problem comes when you let the years go by, thinking that it will go away, but it never does.
Well, I have news for you. It never will, unless you take a stand and put up a fight. It’s time to be strong and declare victory in your life because today is the first day towards your complete deliverance. The time has come for you to be set free, but I’ll be very clear with you, it’s a process. You won’t be set free just from a simple prayer.
It’ll take a little time and some effort on your part, so if you’re looking for a “quick fix,” this book is not for you, but if you’re ready to step up and fight Satan, then, let’s go! You’re not alone. We’re all in the same boat, and just as one day I got set free, so will you! You might be new to Spiritual Warfare, and although I have more experience and my life is different from yours, the solution is always the same.
It doesn’t matter. Maybe your problem was a bad relationship; maybe it’s something you did, and you can’t get over it; maybe you’re dealing with rejection in your life. That’s okay, there’s a spiritual solution for you today. The Bible tells us, in Ephesians 6:12, that our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers; against the world-rulers of this dark night; against the spirits of evil in the heavens; therefore, let’s make the spiritual war our main focus.
As I write this book, I think about the past I left behind. I’ll talk more about this later on, but meditating on all the things that happened in my life, I have found that the demonic forces that affect us today are strong and powerful, and that one person alone cannot fight them. I’ve learned that if you must cut a tree, you must cut it from its root, or else it will grow again.
For many years, my mother was affected by demonic forces. Everything started because my brothers and I played the Ouija board, and that opened the door to these demonic influences because we were exposed to them until the curse was cut right from its root, but we couldn’t get delivered until all of us repented and accepted the Lord, and even after that, we had to fight and do a lot of spiritual warfare. It took some time for my mother to be set free because she resisted the Holy Spirit, but the day that she got delivered, I believe that she was ready for it.
Often times, when we think about a curse, witchcraft comes to mind, but witchcraft is just one of many evil influences that can produce a curse in our lives. There are many other ways that a curse could get to us. For example, a rejection that produced hatred toward us, or the exposure to an evil pleasure.
These things could be preventing us from getting ahead and receiving the blessings of the Lord today. Keep in mind that a curse is the opposite of a blessing, so this means that anything that’s obstructing the path for those blessings to flow freely has become a curse that entered your life sometime in your past.
But this is a filthy lie from the devil because, as a Christian, you’re no longer under his yoke. God already gave you the freedom when you accepted him in your heart; however, you need to receive that freedom and destroy that lie dwelling in your heart. You can’t continue walking with God and Living in defeat.
We were called to live in victory, and to be free from all evil influences, so don’t run away or ignore those bad things happening to you today. You need to fight against them and be victorious because you’re a warrior of the Most High God. You need to walk in the Spirit because in the Spirit you’ll be able to see what actually takes place.
Many of us ignore how demons manifest themselves in the physical world. The general misconception is that these demonic forces only manifest themselves when they possess a body or when someone invokes them, but this is just half of the picture. The truth is that there are many ways in which these demons can manifest themselves in us, creating a stronghold in our past that’s still present in our lives.
These evil influences have stayed with us for many years, preventing us from prospering in everything that we do, and in order to fight against these demonic forces, you’ll need to find out how they entered your life in the first place, so let’s take a look at how you could’ve gotten exposed to these evil influences. We will analyze a few possible ways, and as you read the following examples, I want you to think about your past, and see which one fits your case.

By Being Exposed

Many times we are exposed to evil influences when we practice the occult or any form of witchcraft. Even the most inoffensive things, such as playing with the Ouija board, consulting the Tarot, or reading horoscopes could bring a curse upon us. In Leviticus 20:6, the Lord says, “And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits and after wizards to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul and will cut him off from among his people.
This means that if the Lord turns his back on you, the protection of the Holy Spirit won’t be there anymore, leaving you exposed to the curses brought by witchcraft and the occult. If you were ever exposed to those evil influences, you’ll need to get rid of them by repenting in order to have a successful prayer life. In other cases, entire nations could be exposed to witchcraft and pay a high price for it; such is the case of Haiti. In Haiti, most of the people have been exposed to Voodoo sometime in their past. (Voodoo is not a religion, by the way).
Voodoo is found everywhere in Haiti, and as we all know, the results have been devastating. On January 12 of 2010, one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded hit Haiti with a chilling result. More than 200,000 people perished that day. Haiti is also a suffering country, being the poorest country in America (According to some sources). Most people there can never get ahead and prosper, and it's our duty, as Christians, to pray for them.
Being exposed doesn’t mean that you will be possessed by a demon spirit just because you touched someone that was possessed. It means that if you allow this lie of the devil to enter your life, you will then be influenced by demonic strongholds. You can be exposed, not only to witchcraft, but also to other situations that could bring an evil influence in your life.
For example, you could be exposed to any sexual depravity, drugs, alcohol, violence, etc. All these things have brought you devastating consequences, and as a result, today you're paying the price and can't get ahead in life or in your relationships.

By Being Disobedient

As we all know, Lot’s wife disobeyed the command that the Lord gave her, and as a result, she brought a sudden curse upon herself:
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
 Genesis 19:25-26
Go back in your past and try to remember what you did wrong. Were you disobedient and didn’t do what you were supposed to do? Remember Jonah? The Lord gave him a command, but he run the other way, and he almost got eaten by a big fish, but he repented and did the right thing in the end (Read Jonah 1:1-17). There might be something in your past that could be carrying an evil influence, and you don’t even know it, so you'll need to repent for that disobedience in order to continue with your deliverance.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee.
Deuteronomy 28:45

By Believing a Lie

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:3-5
This is actually the way that evil entered the world for the first time. We have read this passage many times, but we may not have understood what this really means for humankind. Having believed the lie of the devil has brought humanity to self-destruction. The same way that humanity itself fell for the deceiving lies of the devil, is the same way that evil influences enter an individual’s life. This doesn’t mean that someone is going to lie to us and as a result, a demon spirit will possess our body.
A lie is something that doesn’t have to come out of someone’s mouth; a lie is simply something that's believed in the heart without even saying a word. This happens on a personal level, or even to an entire society. A demonic influence manifests in the behavior of an individual or a nation. We can see this currently taking place in our modern world.
Radical Muslims, for example. Demonic influences are taking control over them because they believe a lie, and these evil influences are manifested in their actions, such as the terrorist attack that took place in France not long ago. Now, I want to clarify that I have nothing against Muslims. I love them because they are human beings like me, and they are souls that need salvation as well. It's the radical groups that are being deceived by demonic forces, and the end result is always the same: Death.

By Falling Into Greed

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3:3-5
“And a tree to be DESIRED to make one wise”? This is one of the most common ways that demonic influences manifest themselves in our lives. It happens every single day, and the results are obvious. As we all know, Satan wanted to be like God. His heart got greedy, and this opened the door to evil. Greed is the main reason for the manifestation of evil in the world, but we’ll talk more about that later on. The Bible is clear. It’s written in 1 Timothy 6:10: “The love of money is the root of all evil.”
This doesn’t mean that money is the root of all evil, but the love of it; that’s what the Bible clearly talks about. Greed is what drives the world today, and if you've done your homework, you will know that it’s the devil who rules and reigns in this world. You might think that you're free from the grip of the devil just because you are a Christian, but I'm here to tell you that you are closer to the eye of the hurricane than anybody else in this world because the devil is seeking to destroy those who are called to serve the Lord by injecting greed in their hearts, and that includes you.

By Being Rejected

Now, this is also a common way for evil to enter our lives, but we have to be careful because it’s not the rejection itself that affects us, but rather, what we do with that rejection. We all experience rejection at some point in our lives, but not everyone is affected by it. Most people with emotional disorders have been rejected in the past, and that’s the root of their problem.
Maybe you don’t have deep emotional problems, but the origin of the pain that you feel inside today is the same. Now, like I said before, it’s not the rejection itself that opens the door to evil influences in our lives, but what we do with it. Let’s take a look at a well-known Bible story:
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering, but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?
And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not:
Am I my brother's keeper? And he said, what hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; when thou tallest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
Genesis 4:4-12
“But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect”? As we can see, the Lord rejected Cain’s offering, but this happened for a reason; Cain was selfish and greedy inside. He wasn’t a good person at all, and he acted according to his evil nature. Even though he was rejected by God, he could’ve just let it slide and continue with his life, but he didn’t: “And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.”
He killed his brother and that’s exactly what many of us do when we feel rejected. We hurt people; we let sin enter our lives; we let pride take over; etc. This might sound familiar to you. Somebody hurt you in the past, and you hurt them back or hurt somebody else as a result, or maybe you didn’t hurt anybody, but you allowed sin to enter your heart, and you allowed pride to take over, hurting yourself because you just couldn't deal with it.
This rejection opened the door to an evil influence, and the devil took advantage of your situation, bringing you down to the ground and making you fall to the lowest point of your life, and now, there you are, trying to pick up the pieces. You came to Jesus and accepted him as your Lord and Savior, but the years have passed, and now you can't get rid of that ugly past that follows you everywhere you go. This is a curse my beloved brother or sister in Christ. You fell into the same trap that Cain did, and there's only one way out: THE CROSS.
That’s right! You need to find forgiveness from God, and you need to forgive yourself. No matter in which way you permitted evil to enter your heart, you need forgiveness, whether it was through being exposed to witchcraft, by falling into greed, or by letting rejection bring forth the fruit of evil in your heart. It doesn’t matter. For now, I just want you to identify the root of your problem, and later on, when we get to the elements needed for a powerful spiritual warfare prayer, we’re going to learn how to seek forgiveness and get delivered from these evil influences. We’re also going to learn how to rebuke Satan, so let’s continue understanding the root of our problem.

Understanding the Root of Evil behind Your Past

In one of my previous books, I talked about the evil influences that lurk around us. We need to know where these demonic forces come from and understand the mystery of their power, but first, we need to let go of everything we understand about reality. Understanding this is the first step to your deliverance, and that’s where we’re going to focus on right now. We need to begin to think, not as humans but as spiritual beings so we can see with the eyes of the spirit and not let our human understanding get in the way.
As we all know, evil originated in the heart of Satan, but that’s as far as we go, and I’m not satisfied with that answer. Being a natural fighter, I didn’t want to settle with this notion, so I asked the Lord to reveal to my heart what hides behind evil and to reveal to me what are these things that tormented my mother for many years. One day, it hit me like a rock as I read the following Bible verse:
“Thine heart was lifted up BECAUSE OF THY BEAUTY, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”
Ezekiel 28:17
If you’ve done your Bible homework, you know that this Bible verse is clearly talking about Satan himself. We know that Satan was a mighty angel and that he was covered with all kinds of beautiful stones:
“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created”.
Ezekiel 28:13
“BECAUSE OF THY BEAUTY.” This is the key phrase and the action that gave birth to all evil. The cause of Satan’s corruption is not the beauty itself, but the GREED that took place in his heart, and this greed was transferred to the third part of the angels of Heaven (Now known as “demons”). They were thrown to the earth, and their greed was injected into mankind.
If we were to take away the celestial beings, put them aside, and reveal what really hides behind them, we would be left with only one thing: “PURE GREED.” That’s the mystery behind these demons. Often times, when we hear the word “Greed,” we associate it with money, but that’s not always the case. A person could also be greedy for power or for simple attention, and that greed is the actual cause of all the hurting that you have in your heart today.
Someone did you wrong because they were greedy and selfish. They rejected you because they wanted something more, or maybe it was you who did wrong to somebody else; in either case, the greed inside is the open door to all your past problems. The selfishness in your heart, or in the heart of a loved one, gave way to the pain that you feel today.
If you did something wrong to a loved one, and as a result now you feel remorse inside, it’s because one day you got selfish and greedy. You wanted to get more than what you could have, or maybe you wanted to get something that didn’t belong to you. Your actions destroyed somebody else’s life, and now you feel that there’s nothing that you can do about it, and you might be right.
Sometimes it’s too late, but not for God. You need to repent from the selfishness and the greed in your heart. If you want to be free from your past, this is the first step, so don’t go fighting Satan until you’ve done this first. If the person that you did wrong to still around, go and ask for forgiveness. If they don’t want to forgive you, that’s okay; once you’ve asked for forgiveness, and you did it with a sincere heart, your job is done.
Remember that by doing this, you’re attacking the root of your problem. If someone you love did something wrong to you, it was because they were selfish and greedy inside. They didn’t care about you. You were just another step on their way up. You need to forgive them; you need to let go first because this is the root of your problem. This is a lot harder than to ask for forgiveness, and this is where your first battle begins.
The second step is to acknowledge that you can’t do it alone. You have to accept that you need help from God and that it’s a process of healing that might take some time, but you need to start today. I’ll tell you a secret, and pay close attention to this because it could change your life forever: The reason as to why you can’t forgive is because you think that by doing so, you will get hurt more. You think that if you let go, it’s going to hurt you a lot, isn’t it? Well, I have news for you.
By not forgiving, you’re only hurting yourself more and more each day, and if you can’t forgive, it’s because you’re still influenced by Satan, and he’s injecting selfishness in your heart, so here’s what you’re going to do: Every morning, before you start your day, rebuke the spirit of greed and selfishness in the name of Jesus, declare yourself free from greed and selfishness, and you will be set free.
Do this in the morning and before you go to bed, and do it every time you feel the pain inside your heart. Once you feel strong enough, contact that person and tell him, or her, that you have forgiven them, but if you don’t feel strong enough to do that, tell someone you trust that you have forgiven that person, or write it down on an email and send it to them.
However you feel more comfortable. The important thing is that you confess it to somebody. Now, here’s a short spiritual warfare prayer that you can do to dissolve those evil roots from your past. We’ll talk more about prayers later on, but let’s get started with this one. This is a neutral prayer, so you can do it, whether you need to forgive or be forgiven.
“Spirit of selfishness, spirit of greed, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus; you have no part in my life. I cover myself with the blood of the Lamb. I command you to go away now. You were defeated at the cross, and therefore, you have to go back to your place of darkness. I rebuke any rejection from my past because I am a child of the Most High God, and you cannot touch me anymore. I declare myself free from any unforgiveness. I declare myself free from greed and selfishness. I declare myself free from evil, in the name of the Truth, in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
Now, hold on to this prayer because, in the next pages, I will teach you some spiritual warfare strategies that you will use against the enemy. Remember that you don’t just “pray to pray,” but you need to pray and do spiritual warfare with the understanding and the knowledge that the Lord has given you.

Understanding Spiritual Darkness

Now, let’s talk about these demonic forces that are still present in your life today. Where are they now? Where are these fallen angels? I’ll tell you in a minute, but I first want to remind you that we need to think, not as humans, but as spiritual beings so we can see with the eyes of the spirit and not let our human understanding get in the way.
Years ago, when I was a brand-new Christian, one of the deacons of the church came to me after the Sunday morning service and told me that this world that we live in is not reality. At the time, I had been saved for about a week or so, so I thought he was crazy. I didn’t understand what he meant by that. How can this life not be the reality? “This old man must be crazy,” I thought to myself. Today, I understand exactly what he meant.
We must understand that these demonic forces are not in our human dimension, in fact, they are nowhere, but yet, they are everywhere. In the spirit realm, reality as we know it ceases to exist. All the physical rules that govern this world are broken. In the spirit world, there’s no such thing as “where or when.” These demonic forces could be here and there at the same time, and they don’t manifest unless you invoke them or open your heart to evil.
So you can understand what I’m talking about, let me tell you that these evil forces are like darkness. They are there, but they vanish when exposed to the light of the Holy Spirit. When you let evil enter your heart, the light of the Holy Spirit will vanish as well, leaving you exposed to the darkness. These demonic influences are everywhere, the same way as darkness is. This is the reason why when the demons saw Christ coming, were exposed to the Light of the Holy Spirit and had no other choice but to vanish.
So the question remains: Where are these demons now? And the answer is simple: They are like darkness. They are everywhere, but yet, they don’t exist. They are there, but once you turn on the light of the Holy Ghost, they’re nowhere to be found. Knowing all that, let’s talk about something very important. The Word of God compares the light to the Truth, and darkness to the deception of Satan. This analogy is used in the Bible for a reason, don’t you think? This is key to understanding spiritual warfare because this knowledge is one of the greatest truth found in the Bible, so let’s take a look at what it says:
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth, but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanseth us from all sin.”
1 John 1:6-7
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
John 3:19-21
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” is that right? So if Jesus is the Light, this means that when you say, “In the name of Jesus,” you’re actually turning the lights on, aren’t you? And if Satan and his demonic forces are darkness, guess what will happen to them? That’s right! Just like darkness disappears when it’s exposed to the light, the devil and his demonic forces will disappear when you mention the name of Jesus.
You have to understand this fact because if you don’t, your prayer life won’t be as effective. Remember that knowing the Truth is vital to our spiritual freedom because it promotes our faith, and faith is the foundation of our prayer life. When you pray in the name of Jesus, you have to know that at that very moment, every demonic force around you vanishes, and miracles begin to happen in your life.
The mountains will move out of your way, and you will be set free. This knowledge is a big part of your deliverance because now you will rebuke those demonic influences, knowing that they’re vanishing into thin air. You will understand that Satan disappears, leaving you alone because you will be illuminated by the Truth of the Spirit that dwells in you, but this is just the basics of spiritual warfare. There’s a lot more than that, but we’ll learn more as we move on.
I know you might be new to spiritual warfare, so there are other strategies that you will need to learn in order to be successful on the battlefield. These strategies will reinforce what you’re learning today, so I wrote some of them in a separate book: 16 Spiritual Deliverance Strategies That Will Set You Free. This information is vital, so if you’re interested in learning more, go read it when you get a chance.
For now, let’s make a commitment. The next time that you pray, I want you to visualize these demonic forces vanishing as you mention the name of Jesus. I want you to think of them as darkness and to visualize yourself holding a lamp in your hand. Rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus and watch him disappear before your “spiritual eyes.” But you have to be persistent because he will come back the next day and try to regain control. Remember that our war is an ongoing war, so don’t ever stop. Rebuke the devil and his evil forces every single day of your life, and soon you will find freedom from all those demons of your past.
