There Is Power In The Blood Of Jesus - Do You Have It In You?

WHY IS THERE POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST?

To understand the power of the blood of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, we need to understand what's behind the blood of Christ. If you stop and think about it for a second, the blood represents the sacrifice that Jesus made at the cross. As we all know, the purpose of his coming and his death was to give us salvation. He gave his life on the cross so we wouldn't have to suffer eternal condemnation.

“In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace”  Ephesians 1:7

Maybe this is something that you already know, but the question is, what does this mean for you? His sacrifice (His blood) gave you SALVATION and eternal life, but while you’re on this earth, His death at the cross empowers you, so you can fight and defend yourself against the attacks of Satan. When Jesus died and gave his life, He defeated the devil once and for all.

And take the helmet of SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17
There's power in His blood because his sacrifice is your salvation, and this salvation is the helmet that protects you. Now you have that power in your hands, and Satan can no longer touch you because you are covered with the precious blood of Jesus, and his blood is a reminder to Satan; a reminder of his own death. Nevertheless, the biggest misconception is that people think that by being saved, they will be protected from the attacks of Satan.

This is not the case, and if this was true, we wouldn’t need to worry about Satan anymore, would we? Spiritual warfare wouldn’t make any sense to us because there would be no need to fight an enemy that cannot do us any harm, so in order for the blood of Christ to have power in you, you need to be dead to this world; you need to be crucified with Jesus.

“Knowing this, that our old man is CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” Romans 6:6-7

KNOWING WHO I AM IN CHRIST

In order for the blood of Christ to be effective in your life, you need to ask yourself this question: Who am I in Christ? As we all know, we are saved by grace, and that’s good for us; nevertheless, we have to understand that salvation, although is free, needs to be accepted into our hearts. The Lord has given us the gift of salvation, but you need to open up your heart and accepted it, and in order to do that, you need to walk in the Spirit.

Yes, you heard me right! And walking in the Spirit means to be dead to this world. When a man joins an Army, the first thing that he's taught is to give up his civilian rights. He can no longer do his own will, and he has to do what he is told; whether he likes it or not, and there is a strong reason for this. If he's going to be an effective soldier in the battlefield, he needs to deny himself and give up all his desires.

Taking that analogy into consideration, if you say that you are saved and still live for yourself, you are nothing but a whole bunch of emotions. If you have decided to follow Christ and are not dead to the flesh, you might as well continue living your earthly life. If we want to be effective on the battlefield, we must be completely denied to our earthly desires, or else we would be just wasting our time.

One day, certain scribe came, and said to him, "Master, I will follow you wherever you go." Maybe he was expecting to get a pat on the shoulder and a big welcome from Jesus, but the answer that the Lord gave him was enough to make him turn around and go away:

“And Jesus saith unto him, the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”  Matthew 8:20
In other words, he said to the scribe, "You say that you will follow me wherever I go? If you’re going to be with me, even the animals have a home, but I don’t have a pillow to lay my head on, and if you follow me, neither will you." The Lord is clear and straight about following him, and we must be dead to this world in order to do his will and be effective on the battlefield. The message is clear and simple: If you're going to be a strong warrior for Christ and follow his ways, YOU MUST DENY YOURSELF in this world. It is what it is. I cannot put it in a nice way. Either you’re all in or you’re all out.

As I said before, we're saved by grace, but if you want to be protected by the blood of Jesus and experience his power, so you can be victorious against the attacks of the enemy, you’ll need to know who you are in Christ, and you are ONE with Him, because you belong to Him. And if you belong to Him, you must live like He did, and his teachings are straight to the point. Make no mistake about it. If you live for Christ, you must be dead to this world.

The blood of Christ is the price that the Lord paid on the cross, and this can only mean one thing: The blood of Christ is our salvation. When you accepted the Lord into your heart and decided to turn away from your wicked ways, automatically, you were covered with the blood of Christ and became protected from the attacks of Satan.

Although the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit and the greatest weapon that we have, it wouldn't work if you don’t have the helmet of salvation with you; it wouldn’t work if you’re not covered with the blood of Christ because If you don’t have this weapon with you, this is what will happen:

“And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” Acts 19:14-16
The devil will cut you into tiny pieces, and you won’t even have a chance to defend yourself. You might be thinking that it's enough to have accepted Christ as your Lord and savior, but I tell you that there's a lot more than that. You might be saved, but if you’re not walking right with God, you’ll lose your helmet and your protection.

Now, this doesn’t mean that you lose your salvation. That's not for me to judge, but if you are living in sin, the Spirit is not going to be around to protect you. If you start doing spiritual warfare without the protection of the blood of Christ, it would be equal to sending a soldier to the battlefield without his equipment to fight against the enemy. Now that you understand the power in the blood of Jesus, the question remains: Do you have that power in you?
